Justin Shekoski of As Hope Dies and Beau Burchell founded in 2003 the band under the name "The Gift". A demo was recorded, but except for a piece, sung at the Burchell, contained only instrumentals. Anthony Green in a short time they found a singer with the EP Translating the Name was recorded. Shortly after Green left the band and founded Circa Survive.
Cove Reber Saosin came as a replacement for. Bassist Zack Kennedy left the band due to personal reasons, he was replaced by Chris Sorenson. 2005 the band played together on the Warped Tour. At the time, created a video to Bury Your Head.You're Not Alone, The band signed a contract with Capitol Records, on 26 September 2006, the EP Saosin, and shortly thereafter released the eponymous debut album. Later the band also played at the Taste-of-Chaos tour, and toured with Bleeding Through and Senses Fail.
